After a sudden, unintended burst of viral fame at the height of COVID drove Will Wood to the brink, the singer-songwriter and offbeat comedian went quiet. Slouching Towards Branson is what he came back with — and it isn’t what anyone was expecting.

Shot at live events across the country in 2024, Slouching is Will Wood’s first comedy special. It’s also part concert film, part one-man play, part something that doesn’t quite have a name yet. Eleven songs threaded through a darkly absurdist story about a psychedelic revelation that led Wood to take an ex-girlfriend and a dying rat to a timeshare presentation in the notorious “Christian Las Vegas” of Missouri.

It’s about as true as a true story can be while still being a story.
