**PRE-ORDER – SHIPS TOÂ ARRIVE BY AUG 8, 2026**
Singer-songwriter and offbeat comedian Will Wood presents his first comedy special. Shot at live events across the country in 2024, on his return to the stage after a sudden, unintended burst of viral fame at the height of Covid drove him to the brink.
Armed with renewed piano-shredding, ukulele-smashing, tongue-twisting musical skills, Wood performs his uniquely dramatic and emotional style of standup and songwriting in bars, wineries, cabarets, and theaters.
In Slouching Towards Branson, Will Wood interweaves deep cuts and hits alike from across his chaotically diverse discography with a darkly absurdist story about a psychedelic revelation that led him to take an ex-girlfriend and a dying rat to a timeshare presentation in the notorious “Christian Las Vegas” of Missouri.
Along the way, Wood and the ill-fated victims of his fumbling for a sense of control meet a cast of bizarre characters and experience unprecedented misfortunes, and as he unravels this “about as true as a true story can be while still being a story,” so does the storyteller. Darkly philosophical, politically prescient, and emotionally raw, while still proudly shaking its jazz hands, saying, “it’s showtime!” Slouching leads audiences on a morbidly goofy yet unexpectedly emotional journey that, despite being about Wood’s personal life, is about something else entirely.
“Slouching” has been hailed as “maximally creative and innovative” (V13), with critics raving about the “genius” of it, saying “the man came back swinging… a gift for finding humor in existential dread.” (Desert Sounds) and described it as “oscillating wildly between side-splitting humor and near spiritual experience,” (KJHK).
The special has been selected by film festivals around the world, winning awards for everything from the music to the acting to the film itself. Wood’s first special blends his strengths in a way that will surprise yet satisfy long-time fans, and serve as a great entry point into his work for newcomers.
