The Funeral Arrangement | Sooner or Later

Description

Steadfast Records presents Sooner Or Later, the debut EP from The Funeral Arrangement, the new solo project from Myk Porter (Brandtson, Swarm of Bats, Golden Streets of Paradise). Available on limited edition CD, this seven-track, 30-minute collection was self-produced in his home studio just outside Cleveland, Ohio. The EP picks up where Golden Streets of Paradise left off, pushing the sound into darker, sharper territories. Rooted in post-punk, early goth, and deathrock, Sooner Or Later pairs stark, rhythmic basslines against soaring melodies and walls of driving guitar. Thematically stalking the shadows of human mortality with a late-night, vampiric atmosphere, the EP opens with its gripping title track, a morbid earworm driven by a panic-inducing bassline that delivers a stark reminder of the inevitable: “Sooner or later we’re all gonna take that elevator / Sooner or later, we’re all gonna die.” Other highlights include “Only Time Will Tell,” a gorgeous, haunted ballad built on a pulsing bassline and swirling feedback. Available as a limited edition CD release. For fans of The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, Killing Joke, and Golden Streets of Paradise.
