Description
Co-founded by visual artist, musician, and independent label producer Mark Dagley alongside writer, performer, and playwright Lauri Bortz, Emerald Tablets operates as a cornerstone experimental sound, spoken word and performance collective within the Abaton Book Company ecosystem. The project bridges mystical audio exploration and raw, primitive improvisation. A central document in their discography is The Space-Born, an atmospheric live performance captured in 2004. Drawing its title and thematic text directly from “Tablet IV: The Space-Born”, the fourth section of the esoteric text The Emerald Tablets of Thoth; the piece features Dagley on chord organ alongside Bortz on voice and zither. Exploring ancient, hermetic themes of consciousness and cosmic origin through droning chords and recited text, the work was originally released as a limited-edition CD-R and has been reissued as a 1-sided cassette.
