The Attack | Rise Sing Deliver | 7
The Attack brings Punk back to basics; short, fast riffing songs about the social, music, and media driven politics of today. The simplicity of punk has been lost on a divided underground driven more by fashion and ruled by icons that have become the same rock stars the punk movement rebelled against in the seventies. Across the country everything Punk, from all ages shows to Facebook accounts, has become a popularity contest that defies the original intent of the alternative music scene. The Attack is ruled by a DIY ethos and driven by a goal to re-unite the punks and skins and hardcore kids under the same underground flag. The Attacks lyrics are true shot from all sides anthems. The Attack never panders to one political party or music scene forming an opinion, agenda and sound of its own.
This EP is bundled with a custom 45 adapter, and comes in a sequentially numbered screen printed sleeve w/ download code. GTIN(UPC/EAN/ISBN): 823819137312 Label: Paper + Plastick SKU: EI004

PROGRESSIVE ROCK
RATING 15.5
Oblivion Sun is an offspring of Happy the Man, featuring guitarist/vocalist Stanley Whitaker and keyboardist/reed player Frank Wyatt (the album was mixed by HTM Moog guru Kit Watkins). Both alums play at the top of their game, which says something as both have been dealing with cancer scares these last few years. In fact, Wyatt underwent surgery shortly after the album was recorded which, thankfully, he has recovered from successfully. David Hughes (bass/vocals) and Bill Brasso (drums/percussion) complete the quartet, bringing a true love of progressive music to their enviable roles.
The album opens with two instrumentals, “Deckard” by Wyatt and “March of the Mushroom Men” by Whitaker. Both have that classic Happy the Man sound: elegant but powerful playing, tuneful melodies with plenty of left turns, and a sheer musicality that serves the songs vs. simply emphasizing chops. The cream of this album, though, is the six-part 22-minute title track, penned by Wyatt. All the parts feature Whitaker’s strong vocals, and all the solos by Whitaker and Wyatt (both on synthesizer and acoustic piano) are exceptional. – JASON M. RUBIN

We ‘ve been hearing from folks who don’t live near these cities and want to know when we’ll be closer to them. This year is out for us due to scheduling issues, but here’s your exclusive look ahead (which is nearly 100% unconfirmed, but we’re working on all of it and feel confident it’s going to happen – and hopefully that’s disclaimer-y enough for you!):

February/March 2014 – Europe
April 2014 – South America
August 2014 – SE Asia
It could easily change, but that’s the plan. So chew on that for a while.
Wherever you are, Marco, Guthrie and I (BB) are very, very grateful for all your support of our Aristocratic adventures, and we hope you dig the new music.
32 song collection also contains rare and previously unreleased material…
The album Ane Brun – Songs: 2003 –2013 is a 2 x CD compilation album (31 songs), The track listing is in chronological order and includes songs from all of her eight albums. Its a standard jewel case CD
SONGS 2003-2013 overflows with some of Brun’s finest recordings, drawing upon work from each of her albums and therefore allowing for both studio and live versions of some of her most popular songs. It also contains a handful of rare tracks, including a gorgeous take on Arcade Fire’s ‘Neighbourhood #1 (Tunnels)’.
In addition, new material is present, amongst it a re-recording of ‘This Voice’ that reflects its live arrangement, and ‘Feeling Good’, a cover of the Newley/Bricusse classic made most famous by Nina Simone – and also often sung by Brun’s mother, a jazz singer and pianist in her own right – which is here recast as an acoustic sigh of pastoral optimism. An orchestral interpretation of ‘Don’t’ Give Up’ (taken from Peter Gabriel’s New Blood album) is also included, Brun taking the previously untouchable Kate Bush role and making it her own.
SONGS 2003-2013 charts Brun’s advance from the bewitching, frail acoustic compositions that made her name to the complex drama of her last album, It All Starts With One, via increasingly adventurous arrangements and an undeniably restless ambition to explore new musical opportunities. A decade in the making, it confirms ANE BRUN as an uncompromising and vital musical voice.
Brun says,
I kind of told myself early on to continue doing this as long as it gave me pleasure and it still does, more than ever. I’m still fingerpicking in front of my favourite TV series or with my morning coffee, just like I did ten to fifteen years ago. And it still fascinates me, just like it did when I wrote one of my very first songs, ‘Wooden Body’, sometime around the year 2000…
PA/HC kings SFAR return triumphantly with their first new studio recording since 2009. Like rabid wolves the band ignites the release with the opening track Worth The Fight, solidifying that the past few years of outright corruption in the country has left no one in the middle class untouched, SFAR brings a voice to the anger we all feel. The true hardcore message is once again brought through by this legendary band, that feels more current and important than ever.
