“Get Weak” is the debut LP from Glimmer, a New York-based band that burst onto the music scene two years ago with its unique blend of grunge, shoegaze, and dream pop. Their sound is a mix between the hazy shoegaze stylings of My Bloody Valentine and The Smashing Pumpkins, combined with the heavy-hitting punch of bands like Narrow Head and Superheaven.
Glimmer’s music is both nostalgic and contemporary in nature. Since their inception, the band has received early praise from notable outlets such as NPR, KEXP, Stereogum, and CREEM Magazine. Their tracks have also been featured on popular Spotify playlists like Fresh Finds and Adrenaline, marking them as a band to watch.
On “Get Weak,” Glimmer explores new territory by pairing pop-leaning singles like “Dissolve” and “Sorrow Again” with fuzzed-out alt-rock anthems such as “Been Down,” alongside ethereal tracks that highlight their softer, dreamier side, including “Bloom” and the title track, “Get Weak.”
Glimmer was recorded in Brooklyn and mastered by the sought-after producer and engineer Will Yip (known for his work with Turnstile, Superheaven, and Title Fight). “Get Weak” delves into both darkness and light, balancing its heaviest moments with haunting, emotionally charged beauty.
