**Take Me Somewhere Nice Soundtrack EP: A Dive into Diegetic Music**
The *Take Me Somewhere Nice* soundtrack EP features four source music tracks alongside the film’s credits music. The initial concept behind the score focused on utilizing diegetic music. Therefore, the team crafted soundtracks that reflect specific scenes and locations. For example, these include a bustling club in Bosnia, a clothing store in the Netherlands, and a car ride shared by the film’s three young protagonists.
Ella van der Woude is a Swiss-Dutch musician, songwriter, and composer based in Amsterdam. She elaborates on this creative process: “We simply let ourselves be inspired by the kind of music that would be played in these places and situations, and slightly exaggerated the features of the genres we were mimicking.”
Furthermore, the guiding intention of the music was to amplify the protagonists’ estrangement from their surroundings. This served to enhance their sense of detachment as they traverse varied worlds.
With her diverse artistic background, Ella van der Woude excels in film scoring, band performances, and various projects. This includes the turbofolk-inspired soundtrack for Ena Sendijarevic’s debut feature film, *Take Me Somewhere Nice*.
