Pantaleimon | Tall Trees

Description

Tall Trees serves as an otherworldly vignette in the discography of Pantaleimon, the long-running musical vehicle for British singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and sound artist Andria Degens. Released in 2008 by Abaton Book Company, the EP captures Degens at an exacting peak of her craft, streamlining her lush psych-folk tapestries into four focused, beautifully hypnotic compositions. Recorded by Degens alongside key collaborators Michael Tanner (Plinth) and Nick Palmer (Directorsound), Tall Trees highlights the intimate acoustic interplay that has made Pantaleimon a revered force across the international avant-garde and experimental folk landscapes. Built around Degens’ signature use of the Appalachian dulcimer, delicate acoustic arrangements, and floating, ethereal vocals, the tracks offer a meditative sonic environment defined by subtle micro-textures and luminous spatial depth. Emerging from a rich history of high-profile collaborations within the British underground, including extensive work with Current 93, Nurse With Wound and Dirty Three. Pantaleimon’s solo releases represent her deeply personal sanctuary.
