Nova Koloso is the ambitious debut album from songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mark Colegrove, who conceived and recorded the project during the COVID-19 lockdown alongside his brother, drummer Tom Colegrove. With live performances on pause, Mark used the opportunity to fully realize a musical vision that had been taking shape for years, performing every instrument except drums and crafting a sound that blends heavy psych, progressive rock, melodic alternative, and expansive psychedelic textures. The result is an album that balances crushing riffs with soaring melodies, thoughtful arrangements, and dynamic musicianship. While born during an extraordinary moment in time, Nova Koloso is anything but a product of isolation. It’s a confident, fully realized debut that established the creative foundation for what would become a full-fledged live band.
