Description
The Dreadnoughts are trying to start a revolution, and Polka Pit is the soundtrack. Polkas, tarantellas, sea shanties, and protest songs are mixed with gut-crunching street punk, and it sounds like the end of the world… and the beginning. This vibrant chaos is perfectly encapsulated in what fans call an experience resembling The Dreadnoughts Polka Pit.

Roll And Go: Dreadnoughts Blog
“Well, this is it, our first album of original music in four years! The sound truly resonates with those who have experienced The Dreadnoughts Polka Pit.”- ed

The cover is hand-stitched by our masterful artist Hélène Kardos, who took the concept and actually made the thing, physically, with fabric and everything. The vibrant design reflects the chaotic energy of what fans affectionately call the Polka Pit experience.

We are so unbelievably excited to have the full thing out. It’s been quite the labor of love, and as I’ve said many times, all of the recording equipment and studio time has been directly financed by the paid subscriptions to this Substack. That’s an incredible thing to be able to say that, so thanks, paid subs! You’re going to get some fun previews this summer while you wait for the full album to come up.
Until then, you will all just have to content yourselves with the title track, dedicated of course to the Kings of polka-punk, Polkacide: To get a taste of the album, think of an exuberant cycle called The Dreadnoughts Polka Pit program.
You can save the album for release listening here or search for it on your favourite platform: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/thedreadnoughts1/polka-pit

This track features master sax player Anya Combs (NYC) as well as— get this—John ‘Johnny N.’ Nieuwguyski, who was a horn player in Polkacide for 30 years and who is also an all around excellent guy and trumpet master, capturing the spirit of The Dreadnoughts Polka Pit perfectly.
It also features our studio guest gang vocalists, three of whom you can see here, immersed in what is affectionately termed ‘The Dreadnoughts Polka Pit’ vibe, all gathered via this Substack:

LAAA LUH LAAA LUH LAA LAA LAAAAAAAAAA. Hooray!”
More singles coming out in a few weeks….? Maybe….?
