The Strike are one of the original wave of Street Punk \/ OI! bands from the UK. They were formed in the Highlands of Scotland in 1979 and existed until 1983. The band went through 2 line ups with founding member Fergus as the vocalist in both. Fergus played bass as well as taking on vocal duties in the second line up. The first line up recorded the songs \u201cGang Warfare\u201d and \u201cSkinhead\u201d for the \u201cStrength thru Oi!\u201d album released by Decca Records in May of 1981. The second line up, recorded the track \u201cVictims\u201d for the September 1982 release of the \u201cBack on the Streets\u201d EP which was the \u201cunofficial grass roots side three\u201d of the \u201cOi! Oi! That\u2019s Yer lot\u201d LP on Secret Records. During 1982 the band recorded demos with the intention of completing a debut LP. Unfortunately the LP was never released, but the demos managed to survive and the songs appeared on a string of Oi! compilation albums throughout the 1980\u2019s.
\nIn 2004 Captain Oi! released all of the bands recorded material on \u201cThe Oi! Collection\u201d. The CD was never released in North America and has been out of print for almost 10 years. \u201cThe Oi! Collection\u201d was recently released on a limited pressing of LP, but the LP omits the 3 bonus tracks found on the CD version. Violated Records have remastered all the material on \u201cThe Oi! Collection\u201d with the help of Arik Victor. Violated Records will be releasing the CD in North America for the first time ever.
\nFounding member Fergus who now lives in Canada reformed The Strike in 2015. Fergus is on lead vocals and bass, Chris (ex Slander and Hammerboiz) on guitar and vocals and Pete (ex Trojans and Angelic Upstarts) on drums and vocals. This new lineup is planning lots of gigs for 2016, including recording new material and playing at Rebellion Festival in Blackpool, UK in August as well as the Mid West Live & Loud Festival this September in Minneapolis, Minnesota and St. Patrick\u2019s Day Weekend Fest in Montreal.
