The band embodies the essence of the genre without any wasted motion. Originating from Newburgh, NY, this band unleashes short, hard-hitting tracks with classic punk tempo and razor-tight instrumentation. Furthermore, their unmistakable vocal style has been described as reminiscent of “Lemmy Kilmister gargling with gravel.”

For enthusiasts of bands like Minor Threat, Circle Jerks, Poison Idea, Dwarves, and Cheap Sex, this latest release encapsulates what drives the band’s powerful sound.

Side A: Live & Dead Concept
The first half, dubbed the “Live & Dead” concept, takes listeners directly into an electrifying live performance. This recording was made at the Outsider Magazine Show on April 11, 2025, at the OCNY Veterans Center in New Windsor, NY. The live set is fast, chaotic, and brimming with palpable energy that only manifests when true fans, friends, and family gather for a genuine experience. The performance feels unpolished yet immediate. Consequently, it captures the relentless speed and intensity that General Grievance is known for.

Side B: Studio Tracks with Edge
Transitioning to the “Dead” half, Side B features studio recordings that maintain the band’s raw power while showcasing tighter song structures. Tracks like “Anecdote” and “Old Haunts” add depth to the album. They marry hardcore urgency with poignant themes like cutting toxic relationships, navigating change, and confronting loss and resentment.

Hudson Valley Hardcore Done Right
The result is a vibrant record that serves as both a testament to an authentic scene and a fierce studio statement. It offers listeners an impactful experience from start to finish. This is Hudson Valley hardcore punk in its purest form—raw, loud, bitter, catchy, and poised to resonate through your speakers.

Whether you’re a longtime fan of the genre or new to the hardcore punk scene, General Grievance delivers a powerful and immersive listening experience. It is sure to leave a lasting impression.

General Grievance tears through blistering Hudson Valley hardcore punk with a release that hits from both sides: a sweat-soaked live set on Side A and sharp, hard-hitting studio tracks on Side B.
